European Union must be united in its demands that Serbia must first recognize Kosovo as an independent country if it is to be granted membership, suggest Martti Ahtisaari, Wolfgang Ischinger and Albert Rohan. “Only a united position of the European Union, combined with the statement that Serbia’s membership in the European Union is impossible until this problem is solved in its entirety, could result in a change of positions, both among ordinary Serbs and within their government,” write the three diplomats. The three also warn that the current calm in Kosovo is not sustainable until Serbia is forced to recognize Kosovo. “No one should be deceived by the current relative calmness in Kosovo. The last tragedies in the Balkans have shown that unresolved problems sooner or later turn into open conflicts,”

serbia is making a profit from selling small goods to the EU, and it has declared itself militarily neutral (and therefore cannot join NATO) i don't see any benefit in membership particularly if heaven forbid it joined the eurozone

I don't understand how Greece is still in the EU even though they deny the Macedonian minority there of some rights, but they won't let Turkey in because the country doesn't allow it's people to bad mouth the government. Greece should be kicked out of the EU.

i honestly have never heard of any macedonian minority, ive heard of a turkish minority that they keep a secret in thrace, but otherwise its just makedonci who jump the border at bitola and even declare themselves greek, i know a macedonian girl who keeps a greek flag at home alongside the vergina sun

I knew a few Macedonians who had family in Greece. They told me that Macedonians aren't allowed to speak their language in public and aren't allowed to name their kids Macedonian names (Dimitar, vladimir, Georgi, etc). And apparently, their numbers are purposely underrepresented so that the Greek government doesn't have to give them any minority rights.

yeah i'd believe it a little bit, but i've got limited sympathy because they're really bulgarians and serbs who claim to be the greeks of the classic era....... which is ridiculous

Or maybe Serbs and Bulgarians are really Macedonians who were assimilated by the Sorbs and Bulgars.

As for Greece, they should simply GTFO of the Eurozone. In fact, they're considering it seriously in spite of all the pressure against it coming from The Reich. Germans are very funny, they want Greece to keep strangling its economy, asking for moneys to the ECB, and recieving the daily bashing from the Masters of Europa about how incompetent are other countries and how cool they are, but still they don't want Greece to just drop out of the Euro and go their own way of reconstructing their economy.

^Albanian and Greek culture is quite similar. And many Albanians thought in the Greek War of Independence on the Greek side.
